The big news from Mazatlan continues to be the incredible number of Condo projects being announced and beginning construction. It seems there is a new project announced every month at least! While we still have many Mexican developers, they are being joined by Canadian, Korean and now it appears developers from Dubai are showing interest! There are at least 6 projects under way now, and at a minimum, 10 more about to start. Along with the building boom, the prices are escalating rapidly also. Mazatlan is still much less expensive that a comparable community in the US, and still much less expensive than Cabo San Lucas, Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, etc. but prices are going up. Even more that the demand being high, prices are being driven by the cost of materials. Concrete, steel re-enforcing bars, copper tubing, wood for cabinets, etc. All have doubled or tippled over the last couple of years. New homes are going up also. We have (Among others) two brand new homes on Cerro Vijia (Look Out Hill) near Old Mazatlan. Each is two bedrooms and 2 ½ baths. While they share one common wall, they are not town houses.
